Two new, fully-animated heart-warming stories and a fun sing-along song. The White Lie: Sheila Walsh reminds little girls that it's no fun getting in trouble. But when we do wrong and try to cover our sin, things only get worse and our hearts get heavy with guilt. But we have a God who knows our weaknesses and loves us anyway. Teaches the lesson of 1 John 1:8-9 "If we say we have no sin, we are fooling ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, he will forgive...and cleanse us from all the wrongs we have done." (ICB) The Pink Surprise: Sheila Walsh says: "Isn't it fun to be the first in line? When I was young, all the kids would run to get as close as possible to the front. It's a little like being the only child in a family-you get one hundred percent of your parents' attention, and can sometimes even feel like the world revolves around you. But it turns out that there are other blessings in life besides being first, and Gigi has been blessed with an adventure that will last a lifetime." Teaches the lesson from Jesus' prayer in Luke 10:21 "Father, you have hidden things from the people who are wise and smart... but shown them to those who are like little children." (ICB)

This is a 2-episode Christian live action & animated DVD about GiGi - an only child.
In The White Lie, GiGi gets herself into trouble when she accidentally breaks her mother's vase and lies about it. She tells one lie to her mother and another to her father. When they inform her she needs to go to the police and tell them she saw a kidnapping, a burgery and how the cat broke the vase, she owns up to the lie. She asks her parent's forgiveness and also God's forgiveness.
In the Pink Surprise, when GiGi is told she is to be a big sister she is happy. However, she listens when one of her friends tells her that her parents will not love her as much, not have time for her and will spend all of their time with the baby. Thinking she will be second best, she decides to go live with her best friend. Her parents tell her there are other blessing in life than being first and there will only be more love in their home. Having a sibling is a blessing from God.
This is an excellent Christian video. Recommended for children of all ages. It can be used to teach a Sunday school class or just lessons about honesty and loving your siblings, as well as loving God. Lying is a sin, your heart will become heavy with guilt, but God will always forgive you - you only have to ask. Parents, as well as God, always have enough love for you. The video can teach our children to love God, their siblings and to always tell the truth.

I have a little girl at home who is five years old and she loves the Gigi movies. She enjoys watching this movie as much as she likes to watch the regular Disney Princess movies. The animation for the Gigi movies isn't fantastic but not to the point of being distracting. The storylines are fun and help parents like myself weave Biblical lessons into our daughter's life.
The first cartoon on the DVD is The White Lie where Gigi learns lessons in forgiveness and honesty. In this story, she starts by telling a small fib that quickly snowballs into more stories that get out of control. The second cartoon is about Gigi learning she is going to be a big sister and the transitions that come along with the birth of a sibling.
I would highly recommend this DVD for anyone with a little girl (3ish-8ish) years old. The stories and clean and fun, and your little girl will love them while she's learning lessons on life and being a little princess. We use these movies along with the God's Little Princess Bible to help us build a solid foundation. The Gigi movies are definitely worth checking out.

Gigi, God's Little Princess, is a delightful animated little girl who learns lessons about life, God, and family in each book or movie. In Gigi's Big Break, Gigi learns what God has to say about honesty and about becoming a big sister. This DVD features two 30 minute animated movies, as well as bonus features. This DVD is intended for girls age 3 - 8 years old.
My 4 year old loves Gigi! She enjoys learning about being God's Little Princess along with Gigi. The Gigi movies are refreshing, charming, and utterly feminine -- Gigi's Big Break is no exception. We first discovered Gigi when my 10 year old was young enough to still enjoy them. My 4 year old has grown up with the series, and always looks forward to receiving a new one. She loves being a Princess, alongside Gigi.
Gigi's Big Break begins with "The White Lie" which really turns into more of a whopper than a little white lie. Gigi discovers how lies continue to build until they are totally out of control. Gigi also learns about God's forgiveness and how much better it is to be honest, even if we are in trouble.
The second movie on Gigi's Big Break is "The Pink Surprise", where Gigi learns she's going to be a big sister. As usual, Gigi's imagination runs away with her and she develops misunderstandings about what a new baby will mean for her family. Gigi's parents help her understand what the coming changes will really mean for her.
The animation of the Gigi movies are somewhat simplified, but that doesn't detract from their charm, or the stories. It also helps to keep the cost of the movies affordable. We definitely recommend Gigi's Big Break, and all the Gigi products, to Christian families with young girls.

Sheila Walsh's Gigi's Big Break
Gigi's Big Break is a wonderful DVD for young girls. Gigi's Big Break is based on the books Gigi, God's Little Princess, written by author, singer and former host of the 700 Club Sheila Walsh, and tells the story of a young Christian girl named Gigi as she learns life's lessons and how to live for the Lord.
Each DVD contains two stories and is based on a Bible verse.
In the first video "The White Lie" after breaking a vase in the living room while dancing Gigi tells many lies to try to hide her crime as well as her guilt and shame. Gigi soon learns that it does not pay to be untruthful, and that to lie will always create more problems than it solves. It is a cute story about honesty and God's forgiveness. Based on 1 John 1:8-9.
In the second video "The Pink Surprise" all is well in Gigi's world until she finds out that her Mother is pregnant. Initially she is very excited until her young friends lead her to believe that siblings are nothing but a pain, and that her parents will not love her as much as before and will not want her any longer. Gigi comes to learn that parents have more than enough love for all of their children just as God has more than enough love for all of His, and that to be first in life is not the most important thing in the world. That God has many more blessings in store for us than just being number one by the world's standards. She may not be able to claim all of her parents attention, but she is still very loved. Based on Luke 10:21.
I liked this DVD. It was simple enough for a child to easily grasp, but not so syrupy that it would be unbearable for adults to watch. The stories were short and fast paced in order to keep the child engaged.
I personally found it to be highly entertaining and would recommend it to any parent looking for wholesome family entertainment that is not only fun to watch, but teaches children the will of God, how much He loves them, and the value he places in them.
I am a member of the Thomas Nelson Book Review Blogger Program "BookSneeze". I received a copy of this DVD free of charge in order to review it. I was not paid for this review. I also was not required to give a positive review, but to give my honest opinion of what I felt about the product. Whether positive or negative, this is my honest opinion of the product.
| | | | Great Movie for Family Movie Night! Apr 8, 2010 |
My children (ages 6. 4. and 3) and I watched this DVD together one evening and I was amazed that they all watched both episodes, enjoyed them, and asked great questions for follow-up. While some weeks, I find it a struggle to get them to Sunday School, this DVD really caught their attention and kept it with a good story and great lessons.
As a parent, I was a little concerned that it might be too pushy or too much, but the lessons of faith were gently intermixed into the shows and presented as a way the family lives.
The first story, The White Lie, reminds us that while it is no fun to get in trouble, the longer we prolong telling the truth, the heavier our heart becomes. It is only in being honest and in trusting in God and those around us that we can find forgiveness and lighten the guilt in our heart. This simply lesson was taught to children in a way they will remember and understand and for those who do participate in a church program, it will reiterate what they learn in a new medium.
The second story, The Pink Surprise, centers around some of the feelings that surface when a new baby joins the family and everyone needs to learn where they fit and how loved they are. As a parent with several children, this was a great story about just how incredible love can be and how there is room for everyone in the family, even if it sometimes takes a little while for everyone to find their place and to realize that you sometimes need to share more than just toys... you need to share your parents attention too!
I, frankly, was quite surprised that I enjoyed the DVD as much as I did and that my kids did also. We are a Disney family and I was not sure how we would enjoy mixing family movie night with stories that are based on lessons from the bible, but it was enjoyed by all and I would gladly purchase some of the others in the series. My daughter even asked me to get her some of the books!
Thomas Nelson, through Book Sneeze, sent me a free copy of the DVD in exchange for an honest review of the DVD. | | | Write your own review about Gigi Gods Little Princess: Big Break
